Wood Fired Ceramics
My work reflects an attraction to texture and the world around me. Forms are thrown on the wheel or made from slabs of clay. I then alter the clay with texture and by stretching or draping. The firing can take many hours or even days. The fire adds its blessings in the forms of flashing colors and deposits of melted ash putting life and movement in the pieces with the patterns created by the flames that are specific to that piece of work and cannot be recreated. Each piece is the final result of both intent and happenstance.
