During the pandemic, I was drawn to gothic rose windows. Placed high and naturally illuminated, their structure and traditional beauty inspires and calms me. As a person overcoming past trauma, I do not seek to redisplay those experiences in my work. I want the transformative nature of color and pattern to soothe and inspire viewers. I want to draw myself and viewers into the beauty of glass to find sanctuary, healing, and solutions. To create my work, I layer and fire flat and powdered glass eight to ten times, adding glass each time, over many weeks to build the imagery, color, and depth of a piece. I love to work in glass because I find color is its most vibrant and transformative with light shining through it. I have been working in glass for over 25 years, building on my two-year apprenticeship with Italian master Narcissus Quagliata and in sessions at Pilchuck Glass School. I began fusing glass in 1994. My work is in private and corporate collections in the US, UK, and Gibraltar.
