Hair Cabinet

An environmental artist, I focus on sustainability issues that define our era of climate change. This collection of human hair is presented as a doll-house diorama like family heirlooms. The hair installation is a forensic investigation into my Detroit artist community. I’ve collected dozens of hair samples from artists, collaborators, and their relatives, to show this population’s huge diversity. The domestic presentation of the house setting is both familiar and creepy. More importantly, the expression is ephemeral and delicate, like life itself. Sustainable lifestyles must be fostered to ensure the health and well-being of all creatures on earth.
