Night Pine

This is a plein air nocturne  - painted on-site outdoors at night - executed in oil paint, with knives, brushes, and a headlamp and another small light I attached to my easel. The huge pine is a landmark in my neighborhood; it’s a survivor of so many severe storms. I paint places that resonate with me, and this massive pine and its command of its territory is among those. My paintings are about landscape, place and paint. I get outside whenever I can.
