Reclining Nude (Red)

I often try to introduce color into a figure drawing session. This work was done with vine charcoal and red pastel. The dark band across the middle grounds the figure, and the disconnected shadow on the floor tends to levitate the figure, creating an interesting dynamic in the drawing, much like Hans Hoffman’s theory of “Push/Pull” in making a painting.
