Rising Above

This is a painting I created from life of my model seated in a chair. On the back of the chair, I “engraved” words and comments that have harmed me and words and thoughts that lift me up. This is a painting about rising above. The overturning of abortion rights and the crimes against women and minorities have made it even more difficult to feel powerful and in control. She is rising above the mess and overcoming.
